ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Who you are dealing with

What is Energized Vision?

Energized Vision is the healthcare practice of Dr. Amardeep Bains. It does two distinct kinds of work: operational improvement for healthcare organizations, and executive coaching for clinicians and the people who lead them. Both come from the same premise, that systems fail people before people fail systems.

Who is Dr. Amardeep Bains?

A practising clinician who also runs multi-site healthcare operations. He holds DMD and BDS degrees, MJDF from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, ICF Professional Certified Coach accreditation, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. He serves as Regional Dental Director for Southern California at CCHCS / CDCR, and holds active dental licences in the United Kingdom, Oregon, California and Australia.

Is this a coaching practice or a consulting practice?

Both, kept separate on purpose. Coaching is bought by individuals for themselves, or by organizations for a leader. Consulting is bought by organizations to change how a service runs. They are different pieces of work with different buyers, and blending them serves neither well.

Who actually does the work?

Dr. Bains scopes every engagement personally and stays on it. There is no standing roster sold as a firm and no junior team arriving after the sale. Where an engagement needs a specialist he is not, that person is named before work starts, with their background and what they are accountable for.

EXECUTIVE COACHING

Coaching for clinicians and leaders

Who is the coaching for?

Clinicians in practice and the people who lead them: physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals and healthcare executives. It suits people carrying clinical load, leadership load, or both in the same week.

What is ICF PCC accreditation, and why does it matter?

“Coach” is an unregulated title. Anyone can use it tomorrow with no training, no assessed practice and no oversight, and a great many do. That is the context the credential sits in.

The International Coaching Federation is the largest global professional body for coaching. It defines the core competencies the profession is measured against, publishes the code of ethics its members work under, and runs the credentialing that separates trained practitioners from people using the word.

Professional Certified Coach is its credential for experienced practitioners. Earning it requires:

  • 500 hours of client coaching with at least 25 clients
  • 125+ hours of coach-specific training, not general management or leadership study
  • 10 hours of mentor coaching delivered by a coach already credentialed at PCC or MCC level
  • A recorded coaching session assessed by ICF assessors against the ICF core competencies
  • A proctored credentialing examination

The hours are documented, not self-declared. Coaches maintain a client log recording client, dates, and paid against pro bono hours, and ICF audits credential holders against it. The performance evaluation goes further still: it assesses a real recorded session, so the standard is demonstrated in practice rather than claimed on a form.

For a buyer, that is the point. In a field where the title itself guarantees nothing, this is one of the few signals that can actually be checked.

How is a coaching engagement structured?

Coaching is sold as an engagement rather than by the session, which protects continuity and gives the work time to produce something. A typical engagement runs six months across twelve sessions, roughly every two weeks, with access between sessions.

That is a starting shape, not a fixed product. Cadence, length and focus are adjusted to the person being coached or to what a sponsoring organization needs, and the structure is agreed before the engagement begins.

My employer wants to sponsor coaching. Is it still confidential?

Yes. Organizations sponsoring a leader’s coaching are welcome. Engagement terms and reporting boundaries are agreed in writing before the first session, and the content of sessions stays confidential. Session content is never reported back to a sponsoring organization.

Is coaching delivered remotely?

Usually, yes. Sessions run by video, which is what makes the work practical for clinicians across time zones, rotas and shift patterns.

In-person coaching is available where an organization prefers it, whether for an individual leader or a team, and can be built into the engagement. Raise it early and it will be scoped in from the start.

How is this different from therapy?

Coaching is forward-looking and performance-oriented. It works on decisions, capability and how someone operates in their role. It is not therapy, not clinical care, and does not treat any condition. Where something falls outside that scope, Dr. Bains will say so rather than work around it.

ORGANIZATIONS

Operational improvement

What kinds of problems does the operational work address?

Throughput, access, staffing models and quality systems in health services running under real constraint.

What is Lean Six Sigma, and does it actually apply in healthcare?

Lean Six Sigma combines two methods: Lean, which removes steps that consume time without adding value, and Six Sigma, which reduces variation so a process produces consistent results. Both apply directly to clinical operations, where variation and wasted steps show up as waiting lists, cancellations and staff time absorbed by work that does not need a clinician. The failure mode is not the method, it is applying it without regard to how a service actually runs.

Why do most improvement programmes fail?

Not on analysis, on adoption. The new process is real for about six weeks, then the schedule reasserts itself and people revert. Engagements here are built backwards from that failure mode rather than ending at the recommendation.

Do you work in correctional healthcare?

Yes, and it is an area with very few specialists globally. Dr. Bains works at Regional Dental Director level in one of the largest and most complex correctional health systems in the world.

Is Energized Vision connected to CCHCS or CDCR?

No. Energized Vision is an independent company. Dr. Bains’s role at CCHCS / CDCR is separate employment, and no CCHCS or CDCR work is performed through Energized Vision or claimed as its own.

SPEAKING

Talks and sessions

What does Dr. Bains speak on, and to whom?

Healthcare leadership, burnout and system resilience, quality and patient safety, and Lean Six Sigma applied honestly in health services, including why most improvement programmes decay within two months.

Audiences to date have included medical and dental associations, health systems and residency programmes. The material is not limited to them. Anywhere clinical work meets operational constraint, the subject travels, and inquiries from outside those settings are welcome.

Are session materials really free?

Yes. Every talk ships with a toolkit attendees keep, and session materials are posted free and ungated. No email address is required, and there is no gate, form or follow-up sequence attached to them.

Does Dr. Bains speak internationally?

Yes. Engagements to date include the United States, Europe and East Africa, and he has practised clinically across four continents.

PRACTICAL

Getting started

What does an engagement cost?

Fees depend on scope and are agreed in writing before work begins. No payments are taken through this website. Speaking, coaching and consulting are quoted separately because they are different pieces of work.

Where is Energized Vision based?

Irvine, California, working with clients internationally.

How do I start?

A discovery call of about thirty minutes, at no charge and with no pitch. It exists to establish whether the work is a fit, and if it is not, Dr. Bains will say so.

I need an expert witness. Is that handled here?

Expert witness instructions are handled separately from other inquiries, and the Expert Witness page explains scope and how to make contact. An inquiry does not create an engagement, and material sent before terms are agreed in writing is not treated as confidential or privileged. Matter type and jurisdiction are enough to run a conflict check, so please do not send case material.
